01 September 2026: The seven winners of the third edition of the Plastics Recycling Awards India were announced during the Plastics Recycling Show India (PRS India) held in Mumbai from 31 August to 2 September at the Bombay Exhibition Center. The awards recognise and celebrate outstanding innovation and achievement in plastics recycling from every part of the value chain in India including community recycling initiatives, recycled plastic products, EPR leadership, the best plastics recycling company and the title of Plastics Recycling Ambassador.

The winners across the seven categories are:

· Best Community Effort for Recycling: Swades Foundation and Green Communities Foundation

· Plastics Recycling Company: Banyan Nation

· Recycled Plastic Product: Globus Plastics India Pvt Ltd

· Recycled Plastic Packaging Product: Beiersdorf India Service Pvt Ltd

· EPR Leadership: Kama Ayurveda Pvt Ltd

· Technology and Innovation: Ishitva Robotic Systems Pvt Ltd

· Plastics Recycling Ambassador: Shri Shyam Sunder Sharmma, Ganesha Ecosphere

A community-led waste management initiative by Swades Foundation and Green Communities Foundation has expanded to 496 villages in Maharashtra, diverting 198 tonnes of dry waste from dumping and burning through source segregation and recycling. The programme also supports the circular economy, with 396 school desks made from 19.8 tonnes of recycled plastic, while its successful community-led model is being scaled further.

Banyan Nation has recycled more than 24,000 tonnes of post-consumer plastic and integrated over 20,000 informal waste collectors into a traceable supply chain. Its proprietary cleaning technology and high-quality recycled HDPE and PP resins help leading brands replace virgin plastic in packaging while supporting India’s circular economy.

The Kay TriColour Plastic Chair with Handrests from Globus Plastics India Pvt Ltd is manufactured using 100% post-consumer recycled PP and PPCP, including household plastic regrinds and flexible films. The durable, ergonomic and fully recyclable product is suitable for indoor and outdoor use, while its distinctive three-colour design demonstrates that recycled plastics can deliver premium aesthetics and performance.

Beiersdorf India Service Pvt Ltd’s redesigned Nivea Shower Gel bottles for male and female products use up to 96% post-consumer recycled plastic in bottles and caps. The packaging also reduces plastic consumption by around 20% through lightweighting and is designed for recycling using PET and PE formats and labels.

At Kama Ayurveda Pvt Ltd, EPR has been embedded into packaging design, procurement and supply-chain management, while achieving 100% CPCB compliance. Its use of circular packaging has expanded through PCR PET bottles, recycled board cartons and recyclable materials, with recycled plastic consumption rising 84% year-on-year from 8.1 MT to 14.9 MT.

Ishitva Robotic Systems Pvt Ltd developed the Ishitva® Analyzer, an AI-powered inline system for PET recycling. Using RGB, NIR and UV sensing, it continuously analyses flakes and detects contaminants, replacing periodic laboratory testing with real-time, weight-based PPM quality monitoring to improve traceability, reduce reprocessing and support consistent recycled PET quality.

Shri Shyam Sunder Sharmma, Non-Executive Chairman, Ganesha Ecosphere, is regarded as a pioneer of India’s organised PET recycling industry. Under his leadership since 1989, Ganesha Ecosphere has transformed discarded PET bottles into high-value circular materials while building an integrated recycling ecosystem spanning collection, processing and manufacturing. In this way, he has demonstrated how plastics recycling can deliver significant environmental, economic and social impact. The award was collected at the Plastics Recycling Show India on his behalf by Yash Sharma.

Taher Patrawala, Managing Director, Media Fusion, said: “Congratulations to all the winners of the third Plastics Recycling Awards India. Their achievements demonstrate the breadth of innovation, commitment and practical action taking place across India’s plastics recycling sector. From community initiatives to business leadership and EPR, these winners are helping to drive meaningful progress towards a more circular plastics economy in India.”

Matthew Barber, Director, Global Trade Shows at Crain Communications, added: “It is great to see the Plastics Recycling Awards India continue to grow in this their third year, with strong participation from across the whole value chain. Congratulations to all this year’s winners, who join the growing community of organisations and individuals recognised through the Plastics Recycling Awards in India, Europe and beyond.”
