Kaushik Chandrasekhar is a waste management and resource efficiency professional with over 15 years of experience across policy advisory, research, and on-ground implementation. He is currently an Assistant Programme Management Officer with the India Country Office of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), based in New Delhi.

Prior to UNEP, he worked with leading research and consulting institutions including TERI and Ernst & Young, providing policy and implementation support on municipal solid waste management, with a strong focus on plastic and organic waste streams. His work has involved close engagement with municipal and state governments across India, including solid waste audits, programme design, and execution of practical solutions. His areas of interest include plastic waste management, co-processing, waste-to-energy, and circular economy approaches. He brings a blend of management consulting rigor and hands-on public sector experience, having worked at the interface of government, academia, NGOs, and multilateral organisations.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from BITS Pilani and postgraduate qualifications in Environment Law & Policy and Renewable Energy.
