Holding BE (Electrical) & M. Tech (Engineering materials) qualification from NIT Bhopal with 34 years of experience in Academics, Skill Training, Business development, technical consulting in the field of plastics engineering and technology, Testing, Quality and Standardization activities in the field of Plastics Engineering & Technology.
Worked at CIPET, a Govt of India Institute for Plastics, for 22 years ( CIPET HO & Centres) during 1988-2010. Awarded UNIDO Fellowship in 1997 for advance training in the field of plastics processing in Canada. Travelled widely across globe as part of different academic & consultancy projects. During long stint at CIPET, contributed as an important resource person for various Technical assignments, consultancy projects related to Plastics Sector in India, Srilanka, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia between 1999-2006.
From year 2007-2010, have coordinated National studies on behalf of Government of India on topics such as environmental impact on bio-degradable plastics, human resource requirement in plastics/petro-chemical industries, promotion of recycling technology for plastic waste, assessment and quantification of plastic waste in 60 Indian cities, Fixation of Quality Standards for Plastics Products, Testing centres for certifying plastics products.
Delivered technical lecture on Plastics & Waste recycling at different forums including a special invited lecture at University of Toronto in June 2010.
After taking VRS – Voluntary retirement from CIPET in Dec’ 2010, joined LohiaCorp Limited, Kanpur, globally known machinery manufacturer for producing Technical textile products based on plastics/polymers, and led the team in establishing a state of art Technical Training & Research Centre ( TTRC) which offers specialized training programs for Plastics/polymer based Technical textiles or Plastics woven sack products. TTRC has a well-established NABL accredited Laboratory as per ISO 17025:2017.
Have been working for different technical committees of BIS for standard development of plastics products, PCD 12, PCD 27, TXD 23) and a qualified lead auditor for ISO9000- QMS.
Working actively for BIS Panels on Recycling, Biodegradability, Polyester chips etc. under PCD 12. Also, have worked for BIS’s Technical committees, CED 50, PCD 21 during years- 2005-07.
Worked as Project Leader for developing new ISO Standard on “Testing and Characterization of Mechanically Recycled PE & PP for intended use in different plastics processing techniques”, as nominated by PCD 12,BIS.This ISO Standard, ISO 5677 has already been published in January 2023. Actively participating in ISO technical committee on Environmental issues for Standardization activities, specifically on Plastics & Environment issues.
Working as Member of Expert committee of FSSAI on Food safety for packaging materials, also worked in the Taskforce of FSAAI as Special invitee for drafting regulations on use of Recycled plastics for food packaging applications.
