Lubna is based in Pune and works closely with the waste picker cooperative, SWaCH and the trade union, KKPKP. Her work focuses on strengthening the livelihoods of waste pickers.

She has worked extensively on designing and implementing decentralised and inclusive systems for waste management, collection, sorting, aggregation and recycling. She has supported waste pickers to set up cooperative enterprises like scrap shops, and engage in EPR-based collection of multi-layered plastics.

She is a vocal advocate for a Just Transition for waste pickers.
